We regularly update our Shop with our alpaca products as we make them. Alternatively, you can contact us directly if you have a specific request.
Alpacas need to be shorn once a year as otherwise the fleeces get too heavy, leading to discomfort, overheating and health issues. Our alpacas are shorn in June of each year, after which we sort, grade and skirt the fleeces, and send a sample of each fleece to a specialised laboratory which analyses the quality of the fibre. Only the best is sent to the mill for processing into yarn.
All our yarns are 100% alpaca from our herd, and come in a variety of natural colours. They are available as double knit 100g balls. Our handmade beanie hats and handwoven scarves are so comfortable to wear, as alpaca fibre has none of the ‘itch’ you can get from wool. They are very warm while still being breathable, moisture-wicking and do not form pills. As this is a natural product, you may find small remnants of hay in the yarn. You can rest assured, however, that the alpaca thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful!
